Art
& Graphics
Art -
Means the design
that you want placed on your garment or other object. The screen-printing
process allows for a very precise replication of art. However, there are
limitations to the degree of detail that can be reproduced onto fabric.
Generally the more "solid" the substrate (what the art is being printed on), the
higher level of detail that can be reproduced. We can create original art based
on a verbal description, enhance existing drawings, or use camera ready and
color separated art - and everything in between.
An art
charge is incurred for everything including camera-ready art.
Camera Ready Art -
Means art that is in
a final format that allows our printing staff to take it as it "as is" and
reproduce it onto the chosen substrate, e.g., a t-shirt. Camera Ready Art is in
the exact size that a customer wants it printed or embroidered. Camera Ready Art
must be in a film positive format, which means all parts of the actual image or
lettering are the color black on a white, e.g., paper, or clear (acetate)
surface. Camera Ready Art does NOT contain the actual colors that the final
design will have in it - the ink colors are added at the final printing process.
Generally, art that is produced via a computer graphics program and printed out
in the exact size onto white paper using either a laser (preferred) or inkjet
printer will be considered camera-ready art. Computer generated art should be at
600 dpi for optimum detail reproduction.
Color Separations
-
If a design has more
than one color in it, each color in the design will be printed in black onto a
separate sheet of paper or acetate with registration marks on each sheet. Most
computer graphics programs are capable of producing color separations. If any
additional work is required to art provided, e.g., sizing, adding lettering, or
other additions or modifications, the art is not "camera ready" and some art
charge may be incurred. Camera-ready art can be provided in PC format floppy
disk with the EPS or Corel Draw extension; or, e-mailed using the same
extensions. Warning: The image that can be produced on a computer monitor cannot
necessarily be reproduced in the screen-printing process. Shading and high
detail images may be impossible to recreate.
Art Charges -
Our Art Department
charges a rate of $60 per hour. They can generally provide a high-end estimate
of what art charges will be if a sufficient drawing with color separation
details or accurate description can be provided. No Art Charge estimate will be
provided until our artists can determine what you want. Art charges for a simple
one color lettering design generally will not exceed $30. One of our sales
representatives can provide a quick estimate of potential art charges.
Customer Computer
Generated Art -
We use Illustrator
for graphics generation. Many programs can save art in a format that can be
exactly reproduced with Illustrator. If a design is multi colors and thus
requires color separations, there may be a charge for taking a customer’s art
via email or disk (which has the color separations already done for the design)
and printing out the separations.
Color Matching -
There are a large
variety of stock ink colors available that correspond to the Pantone Color
System. If a special ink color must be reproduced, there will be an additional
charge of $15 per pms match.
Please
note: while we do have
the ability to match PMS numbers, color differences may occur due to what is
being printed upon.
Sample Prints -
High Point would be
glad to produce a spec sample of your order. However due to the costs in
producing such samples we need to charge minimum of $100 plus all costs incurred
with the printing. High Point Marketing & Promotions reserves the right to
refuse to print any design that we deem to be offensive.

Frequently
Asked Questions
To avoid or
lessen an art charge, camera-ready artwork must be supplied.
Camera-ready
artwork
is
high quality black and white (B&W) artwork that is ready to be processed by
us to be used for printing. If the design is multi-colored, a separate B&W
image is required for each color.
- Camera ready
artwork is not:
Photocopies of any type
- A fax
- Business cards or
other printed items
- Dirty Artwork
(smudges or marks)
- Continuous tone
images; i.e., B&W and color photographs
We will
accept artwork supplied to us by the above methods, but an art charge will be
applied.
File
Types
Images in vector
format such as files created in Adobe Illustrator, Macromedia Freehand, etc.,
are the preferred file types and in most cases we should not incur an art charge
if you send your artwork in this format. You may alternatively supply us with a
high quality digital image (150 - 200 dpi at actual print size) that has been
separated into different layers or channels in a program such as Adobe
Photoshop. Do not use "anti-aliasing" if at all possible. Anti-aliasing
blends the edges of text and other objects to make them appear softer on screen,
but cannot be reproduced in monotone printing. In order of preference, here is a
list of file types we will accept for artwork. We use the versions listed and we
can use files created by older versions as well:
- Adobe Illustrator
9 - .ai, .eps
- Adobe Photoshop
6.0 - .psd
- .tif
- .gif
- .jpg
If your
file is in a different format, e-mail
us or give us a call and we'll let you know if we can import it into our
graphics programs.
Image
Resolution
High resolution
images are required in order to produce a clean, sharp print. Most images found
on the internet are at 72 dpi, and will not look good when enlarged and printed.
Sending artwork by
E-mail
Please notify us
prior to sending us artwork by e-mail. You can either call us or
E-mail us to let us know how large this
file is and when you'll be sending it.
If your
image file is large, you can use a compression program such as WinZip to compress the file before e-mailing
it to us.
Large Graphics Files
If your file is
larger than 4 megabytes you should Mail us a zip disk.

manufacturer of the goods. Seller makes no other express or implied warranties,
and specifically makes no implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for

Overages and Under
Runs
In
certain instances you may receive an overage or a shortage on your order. Due to
manufacturing quality and production standards there will be over runs and
occasionally under runs. High Point will do everything possible to reduce this
occurrence. The industry standard on most products is ± 5%. For instance, if you
order 1,000 mugs you could potentially receive between 950 and 1,050 mugs.
Exceptions to the above are paper and plastic bags, which may vary ± 25%. We
will bill either you, your account, or credit card only for the actual quantity
shipped. If you have any questions please contact us
